Our Journey
In 2010, Adam Brady was inspired to create opportunities for First Nations people in the aviation industry. He saw mentoring and aviation as dual motivating factors to enable First Nations people to thrive. Over the past decade, the project grew from a small community project called “Boorowa” Aviation (the Dharawal word for “above and beyond”) which received funding for various camps with the RAAF, NAIDOC day celebrations, flying day with trial instructional flights and created a traineeship for an Administrative Assistant. In 2019, Adam incorporated Eastern Skies Aviation P/L with like minded partners. From there, First Nations Aviation was able to take flight with the creation of a new flying school, acquisition of aircrafts and the development in 2021 of a state of the art aircraft and simulator at Shellharbour Airport to assist in training and educating aspiring pilots. 2023 is looking to be a great year for the company with new and previous partnerships strengthened to grow the business. It has been encouraging to see tangible outcomes from flight crew employment, defence and general aviation employment come from participants that undertook previous Boorowa Aviation programme mentoring.
